Gebbers Farms is strongly committed to sustainability in our farming practices – not only because it ensures a healthier future for our farms but because it is good for the planet and people. This is how we grow sustainably:

Water management

Our custom water-treatment system uses natural materials and safe technologies to recycle water sustainably so we can reuse it across our operations. We reuse treated water across our operations to irrigate our orchards and to cool our geo-exchange system. Our unique water treatment system removes an estimated 1.85 million pounds of carbon dioxide from the environment per year – the equivalent of taking 182 cars off the road.

Soil care

We design our orchards and the roads to and from the orchards and packinghouses to reduce water pollution and erosion. And we replenish the soil through industry-leading composting practices that also minimize waste throughout our operations.

Carbon neutrality

Gebbers Farms worked with NetGreen to baseline our carbon footprint – both as greenhouse gas producers and as carbon sequesters. Gebbers Farms sequesters approximately 26,000+ tons of GHGs every year.

Energy-efficiency

We use a geo-exchange system that uses the warmth of the Earth to cool and heat our packinghouses and cold storage units while demanding little energy use. It also uses a Zero Ozone-Depleting refrigerant and nontoxic antifreeze.

Integrated Pest Management

Here at Gebbers Farms, we use a wide variety of tools to scout for pests and to manage them if we find them. We use EPA-approved crop protection chemicals as a last resort and in the smallest amounts needed to protect our trees and their fruit; in fact, we work hard not to use them at all.
